The art of making coffee in an Italian Moka Pot has captured the palate of coffee enthusiasts all over the world. These distinctive pots can be found in the majority of Italian households and is a typical method of making coffee in Southern Europe. Let’s delve into the methodology of creating a perfect cup of Amato CBD Coffee using the moka pot.
The moka pot is a stovetop device that uses water pressurized by steam to brew strong, aromatic espresso-like coffee. While there are various names for these coffeemakers, my favorite is caffettiera.
To brew, the lower chamber is filled with water to just touch the gasket. The metal filter is then set onto the lower chamber and filled with the perfectly ground coffee. There are two ways to fill the filter with coffee; the first is to fill the filter with coffee, tamp it down and then create small holes using a toothpick. The second way, which I highly recommend, is to create what is known as Vesuvius by spooning the coffee into the filter to create what looks like a volcano. The top chamber is then screwed on tightly and the entire moka pot is put to boil on the stovetop.
As the water boils, the steam creates pressure in the lower chamber forcing water through the ground coffee in the metal filter. The rich, aromatic coffee then collects in the top chamber. The characteristic gurgling towards the end of the brew signifies that the lower chamber is almost empty of water and the last spurts of vapor are being forced through the filter.
When I make Amato CBD Coffee, I like to use a method that allows the flavor of the coffee and the oils from the CBD to truly have time to brew. Using a Moka Pot allows this to happen due to the high pressure of the steam and the metal filter (which does not absorb the rich CBD oils) in this brewing process. The end result is a strong, highly aromatic and flavored, rich in CBD oils, cup of coffee. Topped with a little steamed milk, it becomes a classic morning ritual. For me personally, that perfect CBD cappuccino in the morning creates alertness, focus and a balance of energy. It is my favorite way to start my mornings.
Of course, there are many different ways to brew coffee, and I am certain that every coffee enthusiast has a preferred way of brewing their own special cup. I will be exploring the ways that do not use a paper filter, which can absorb the CBD oils. In upcoming posts, I’ll be discussing the French Press method, the Pour Over, and KCups.
